About Danfoss Drives

Danfoss Drives is a developer, manufacturer and supplier of AC drives. Its portfolio of high-quality, application-optimized VACON® and VLT® products maximizes process performance, saves the most energy and minimizes emissions.

In 2025, Danfoss estimates that more than 5 billion people (over 50% of the estimated world population) will benefit directly or indirectly from the benefits provided by Danfoss Drives in their everyday lives. And the installed base of drives will be helping to save the annual equivalent of 60 hours of global energy consumption.

Project goal

Given our expertise in the combined area of software development and control engineering, S2E Systems was hired to strengthen Danfoss Drives Motor Control Software development team. The goal was not only to provide additional workforce to implement new feature in the complex codebase of existing Danfoss products but also to provide external expertise and knowledge for software quality improvement.

What S2E achieved

Over the contract duration (currently at 3 man-years and ongoing) our team has both reworked existing software and implemented multiple new features in C and C++ for embedded real-time software, such as kinetic backup, motor flying start and Advanced Energy Optimization on multiple motor types.

To ensure the quality required for its products, the engineers at S2E follow the certified process used by Danfoss Drives for software development and execute extensive testing and validation on dedicated hardware.
